Cub Scout Day Camp

When Aaron and I got into the car to drive home, Aaron turned to me and said, "I hope we are Webelos leaders next year so that we can come back and do this again." So, needless to say, we had an awesome time.

The trip up was pretty fun talking with three of the boys that we didn't know that well. See, we have had 2 boys that are always there and are almost done with being Webelos but last week....we magically got 3 more boys. Two of them recently had birthdays so they hadn't started coming to our scouts yet (and it didn't help that Aaron and I have been traveling off and on). One of them had been meeting with the other ward's Webelos but they didn't sign him up for Day Camp so he came with us. We are so lucky to have such a great group of boys.

The first thing we did that day was BB Guns! Which as you can imagine, is a great way to start off a day camp. The boys were pretty good at it and they seemed to really enjoy the chance to try and shoot something....even if the something was just cans.

Even Aaron got in on the action. (This is when I tell you how sexy I think he is...but you already know I feel this way.)

The next thing we worked on was the Outdoorsmen pin. This one boy from another troop made me really thankful for our boys. This boy Zach was rude and disrespectful. He treated the staff and other campers so rudely...and his dad was standing right there. It turns out that I don't mind yelling at other people's kids. I must have got that from my mother. :)

After the "boring" (thank you Zach) work on getting the Outdoorsmen, we went to the BMX bike course. The boys loved it. It looked pretty fun but they didn't have an bikes in my size.

The boys got to go around and around for 30 minutes and they loved it. It was one of their favorite parts of the day.
After this, we decided to head into the shade and work on archery! All of our boys who tried it were pretty good at it. We had one boy who fired one into the ground and after that he didn't want to try. One of our boys was VERY surprised when he shot off his first arrow and it went flying rather far. He didn't know he was so strong. Once he got his aiming down, he was pretty great.

This was his second shot and he got it right on the edge of the black. He got better and better the more he shot. I was pretty impressed.

After the archery the boys RACED over to do the zip lining. They were so excited for their ride on the zip line.

It was a pretty long fun ride for them. They asked me if I wanted to go but I decided not to since one of our boys decided not to do it and he was pretty shaken up about the thought of jumping off the bird's nest. Maybe if we get the chance to go next year, I will give it a try. I've done it before in my life so I'm not too sad.

After all of this crazy outdoor activity, we got another break when we got to do the Geologist pin. We had to draw either an earthquake, a volcano, or a geyser. We also got to look at some dead animals and talk about fossils. I mean...it wasn't BB Guns but it was still fun and interesting.

Even if the boys don't appreciate it, it was good break to have in the shade before we did rock climbing! All of the boys made it to the top so I was pretty impressed.

The boys wanted to see Aaron climb the wall too and so he popped on a harness and climbed right up there.

I was lame and decided not to do it. I mean....I had to take pictures, right? Oh...and I have zero arm strength so I was pretty sure that I wouldn't be able to get to the top.
Thank goodness after all of the above excitement and activities, it was FINALLY lunch time! I told some of the boys that if they wanted to eat in the shade, they could climb under the table since there was no where to eat in the shade. Some of the boys took me up on that offer.
After the lunch we only had to work on pins and not another crazy outside activity. It was the perfect schedule. We finished up the day doing the Naturalist and the Forester.

At the Naturalist station, they had a snake. I got to hold him since I am an adult. It is pretty awesome to be an adult. I walked the snake around and let all the boys touch it. Love it!
The boys got to go on a quick nature hike and learn about "nature's hairbrush" and many other plants. This is them holding the thistle that can be a great fire starter.
The Forester was pretty relaxed. We talked about different levels of the forest and about different regions of forests. They even got to count the rings of a tree.

The kids got to go to the Trading Post after this and get stuff to take home. We had closing flag ceremony and that was the end of the day.

And I agree with Aaron, I would love to go back next year.

Primary Class Picture

Has anyone noticed that I'm writing like crazy? It must be because I'm out of school.

Anyway, I told you that I would share the picture that my primary kids drew for me to feel better. They are such sweet little kids and I missed seeing them. But here we go.

This is by far my favorite part. Can you guess who it is?

It's Aaron! Apparently one girl was drawing him and this one boy said, "Hey, Brother Reinert has more hair than that! He has it under is mouth and under is nose and on his arms and his legs!" I think that purple and blue hair was a pretty good choice. It is SO Aaron.

Can you guess these next ones?

Yup, that is Pippen and Bambi! Bambi is the one with whiskers. Isn't that darling?

I think that this next one will be easy since it is such a great likeness of me.

It's me of course! Apparently they gave me a purple pants/skirt. Very very lovely. Do you like my blue....hair? Accessory? The kids obviously have noticed how stylish I am. In fact, this last one is wonderful.

This is apparently me in a dress. I'm told that it's a very lovely dress. In comparison to my head....this is a pretty huge dress. But the purple is quite nice. Aaron and I are all about the purple.

So...should I put this on my fridge?

I love my Primary kids and I'm so excited to see them next week! It has been too long.

2nd Anniversary! ....Dog Park...

Aaron and I have been married for two whole years now! I can't believe how fast time is flying.
People always told us that the first year is the hardest. At the end of last year, I was thinking, "I don't know what people were talking about. That wasn't bad at all." But at the end of this year I'm thinking, "No wonder people say that! The second year is MUCH better!"

Now I have this feeling that it is just going to get better and better! This next year should be pretty great!

Since Aaron and I had stuff we needed to do this weekend we were too busy to do anything for our anniversary weekend. Aaron and I decided that today we would just hang out and enjoy our little family.

I've not been feeling too great (read: my meds are making me feel like crap) and so Aaron went to church alone today....which is sad for me since I LOVE getting to see my Primary children. They drew me a picture! I will be sure to show you all tomorrow when I take a picture of it. It is precious! One girl told Aaron a bunch of stories about her week and said, "You have to go home and tell this to Sis Reinert! Don't forget!" It is good to feel missed.

We decided to take the dogs to a different dog park later in the evening when I started feeling better. We thought it would be a great family activity and Aaron and I could get out of the house (since we spend SO much time there anyway).

This was the last we saw of Pippen. When we are at a dog park and there are other people/animals to play with, he wants nothing to do with us.

I found Pippen following this family around at one point. He is running to me saying, "It isn't what it looks like! They were trying to get ME to join their family." Whatever.

Pippen is WAY more baby hungry than me...well...toddler hungry. He can't stop himself when he sees one. Side Story: That little girl in the pink was TOTALLY trying to get her dad to let her bring a dead bird home with them!

This is another picture of Pippen with newer and better people.

He didn't come back till he was filthy dirty so he had a pretty good time.
Bambi is a different story. She just wants someone, anyone, to chase her. This is her trying to convince one of the other dogs to chase her.

Once the dogs stop chasing her and want to play something different or go and explore smells, she is right back next to us.

But much like Pippen, Bambi loves a kid to play with and get free pats. When we went to leave, this girl said, "Oh! Does Bambi really have to go home?" ...not if your mom will let you take her...

Aaron's mom called to wish him a happy anniversary so he was on the phone most of the time we were there.

I think that in comparison to the Ogden Dog Park, the South Ogden one is like Disneyland. The dogs got to have so much fun and Aaron and I loved watching them have fun with each other and making new friend. When we were ready to go the dogs were good and tired....which is perfect.

After our lives calm down a little maybe Aaron and I will do something a bit more special for our anniversary...but if we don't, I'm totally counting Mexico as our anniversary.

Bangkok Reunion: 3rd Annual

They are calling this the 3rd annual Bangkok Reunion even though I'm pretty sure that they have been going on for awhile in an unofficial way.

Since we were all so far away from our families in the United States (or anywhere else we originally hailed from) we had to creative a new family support system in Thailand. Our church became our family. A lot of these people I've known since I was a baby or at least since I was 14. Like this girl, I've known her family since before I can remember. We lived in the same neighborhood when I was 2.

This is a picture of some of the kids who were there yesterday. We are all getting so big, it is hard to believe.

Laura came down with us since I figure she will be part of this group eventually. We all took turns holding the new Nielson baby.

Poor little girl just wanted to be bounced. Once I started bouncing her she stopped making this face....

...and started making this face.

Oh...I guess you can only see that I'm smiling more but believe me, I'm smiling because she is finally drifting off.

I had so much fun at the Reunion that I didn't really take that many photos. The moms were running around with their camera so I made them promise to put the pictures of Facebook. I got to see so many awesome people that I haven't seen for such a long time. We talked and laughed and got caught up on each other's business.

After all of the talking some kids got the balloons down and started getting really silly.

I have to say that all in all, it was a pretty awesome Reunion. It was fun to get to see so many of my "family" members and play around with them. I love that we are all pretty good at stalking each other on the internet! See you guys next year! (But hopefully earlier than that.)

Cub Scouts: Scientist

Before I get to far into talking about scouts, I want to share part of my glamorous life with you.

I think that Heavenly Father has been preparing me to be a mother because all week long, Bambi has been really sick. Like....vomiting every day and my personal favorite, waking me up every two hours to go to the bathroom. She's got the poops. I feel so bad for the little one but...man...I do not appreciate being woken up at 1, 3, 5, 7, 9...o'clock in the morning by a whining dog who "must go out the the bathroom this instant"! Not to mention....we have had to hose her down various times because of the collection of her body "fluids" that are getting on her. Poor dog.

This has been an installment of "The Reinert's Completely Glamorous Life".

Yesterday Aaron and I had scouts! We feel really bad since we have missed three days of scouts this summer. Two, when we were on the Mexico trip and one, when Aaron got unexpectedly called out of the state. But we are probably going to be good for awhile.
Whenever I'm around the boys, I realize that I've gotten so jaded. Once you are older, you start to forget how cool the simpliest things are.
For example, Aaron and I put water in a bucket and told the boys to swing it around their heads and water wouldn't come out. I was thinking, "This is really lame but we have to do it to teach them about centripetal force."

I was totally wrong. It was not really lame. The boys wanted to take turns doing it for 10 minutes. At first, they didn't believe us and they wanted to see Aaron do it first to prove that it wasn't going to fall on them.

It was pretty awesome. We did a couple more experiments after that and for some reason, the boys were fascinated. Love it!

Aaron and I love scouts and we are both super excited for day camp on the 28th. They are going to be tons of fun.

Little Leo's Baby Blessing

The end of my weekend adventures ended today at a baby blessing for little Leo. Leo is our friend, Michelle and Daniel's son and he is so adorable. Daniel gave a wonderful blessing. He blessed Leo that he would grow up knowing his Heavenly Father loves him and that if he prays to his Heavenly Father, that his prayers will be answered. It is crazy that in a short couple years, Leo is going to be saying his own sweet prayers.

This is me getting the chance to hold Leo for the first time. He is a month old and so preciously tiny. He had the softest little feet since...you know...he has never used them as feet.
Don't you love the cake that Leo's grandma made for him?

Everyone loved holding the little guy and luckily, he was super out of it. And look at how Leo sleeps with his hand up by his face. Love it! It is so cute.

Sorry that this picture is blurry. I hate my point and shoot camera so bad. But this is little Leo holding onto Dee's finger. Look at his skinny little arms! So precious!

This was the best way for me to end my crazy week. It was great to go to a wonderful sacrament meeting and witness this wonderful day for the Harnish family. It was also a pretty good way to spend Father's Day.
