The pile of leaves was from that far corner over there. We were going to be digging over there are so we assumed that cleaning up the area a bit would be a good idea. But this is about as far as we got yesterday...when I forgot to take a picture but I told you guys that I would hook you up!
It is a little aggravating that we have to have this side be 4 stones deep. It isn't nearly as important over here as it is toward the end of the bed.
I liked this picture of our house better than yesterday's. So...here is our house. Can you believe that the painters tape and fridge clip by the door is still up there? And still holds our outgoing mail.
I cleaned up the pile of leaves that you saw before and headed inside, leaving Aaron to dig up this area.
We had to bury that hose. Our yard had a sprinkler system put into the ground about 40 years ago when the first owners lived here. Local prisoners did it because our neighbor Lou was a police officer and set it up for both of them to get a system put in. The prisoners did it for cigarette money.
Oh the colorful past of this house!
Anyway, the sprinklers haven't been hooked up and working in about 10 years but the hoses are still all under our yard. Aaron had to deal with this mess.
While I was inside working on visiting teaching stuff, he LITERALLY runs into the house and says, "Come out NOW and see the longest worm you have ever seen!" So...of course, I went outside.
This guy was HUGE! Seriously! He was bigger than this but he kept shrinking up every time we would come near him...which was annoying because I wanted to show everyone how awesome he was.
I think that I took about 30 pictures of our worm. At least I didn't pull out my good camera for this...that would have made me seem crazy.
Back to the flower bed.
The first layer was almost down!!!
Now we need to pick all of them up and pour paving sand down there and settle them back in...oh...and then add the other layers...and fill it with dirt.
You might have noticed from the picture of the last stone being placed in, that we are going to run into that...so that is going to need to come off. Luckily it was for the old sprinkler system so...it is really no skin off of our nose to take it off...but we will have to tell the neighbors that we are shutting off the water.
We went to Lowe's after this and decided to get all of the dirt, gravel, plants, and stones delivered to us...since our car could only handle 18 stones a trip. We are going to have to wait till Friday to get that so it might be on to other projects for the next two days.
But, you know that we will keep you updated...because you are totally enthralled. I can tell.
