Finally Flowers

If you have been following our adventures, you will know this this is how we started:

This is where we left off:

And I'm hear to tell you, where we got to this past week.

Since Aaron is back at work and I've been keeping pretty busy with my own work (photography), we have been taking what is left pretty slowly.

On Tuesday, Aaron decided that he was going to get some work done in the yard since the weather was suppose to turn pretty nasty toward the end of the week.  He moved all but one bag of top soil to the flower bed.

We have to avoid filling up the far end, because we have yet to shut off our neighbors water to take off this big black thing.  So there is a gap in the rocks....which dirt could fall out of.  So we are avoiding it.

Aaron tried to pack down the soil really well around that edge so that it wouldn't start moving if it rained.

The dogs watched us.  They had very little interest in what we were doing but they liked playing outside.  I was surprised that the mailman came and they didn't even get up.  They just sat in the grass staring at him.  The guy was pretty surprised and said usually dogs run right up to him and start barking.  He said he didn't even know we had dogs.  Good...that means they are quiet when we aren't home.

That is pretty much where we left it for a couple days.

This is a pretty great house to come home too. We are so lucky and it is looking better and better every year.  Cute house, cute dogs and cute husband.

Anyway, this post was suppose to be about flowers!

So yesterday was suppose to be this all day rain storm that was suppose to be horrible.  All day it was threatening but no rain.

I get a text message from Aaron around 1pm and he asks, "Is it raining up there?  It isn't raining down here yet."  I let him know that it wasn't raining at all and he texted and asked if I wanted to go get flowers for the flower bed.

Ummmm...heck yes I do!

When he got home, we quickly ran to Lowe's to shop around.  I will have to look up the names later for you since they are probably outside still.

We got these white ones (which kind of smell like feet) and...

...these purple ones!  Why did we choose purple?  I'll tell you in a minute.

They are both perennials which is perfect for us because we don't want to spend $100 on flowers every year.

Anyway, we got purple flowers because we also have our Dwarf Korean Lilacs to match things up with.  Because they are starting to look like this.

We worked as quickly as we could since we knew that a storm was still likely but we also water the plants anyway when they got in the ground.  Can't be too careful.  This is what the one side looked like when we were finishes.

And this is what the other side looked like.

We are loving how the front of our yard is shaping up.

I was literally stunned by the different between the picture when we bought the house and where it is now.  Hopefully in a couple years, someone else will like the way it looks too.  For now, I'm going to smile every time I see it.
