First Time With Solids

We were all ready to get the green light from the doctor for Zach to start solids and so after his appointment, we knew that we wanted to do that...but we had a ton of stuff to do Friday night and didn't have enough time to devote to it so on Saturday, we decided to introduce Zach to some rice cereal.

We decided to have Aaron be the one to feed him since he misses out on stuff being at work.  I didn't want to take over this new milestone too.

My brother Markus and his friend Aisha were at the house that weekend so they got to share in the "excitement".

And the first spoonful goes towards his mouth.....

.....and......                                          He doesn't seem to care.

He didn't dislike it.  The spoon was new to him, of course, and so he was trying to figure out how to get his mouth around it....and get the food off...and it was just a lot of new things.  We knew that he wouldn't immediately "get it"  and so we were patient.  When he was done with the experience, we put the rest of the cereal in a bottle with more breast milk and give it to him.  He sucked it down really fast, so we know that he didn't dislike it.

He will get used to the whole "spoon" thing soon enough.  We are so excited that he is growing and learning and hitting milestones right on target. We were hoping that this would help him sleep better....but no.

One thing that it has done though, is firm up his poop.

Oh...TMI warning!!

But seriously, he used to have 12 poopy diapers a day because he was so loose.  Now he has about 2-3.  Much easier to handle.

I'm sure when he starts veggies, I will write another blog post.  Until then, happy eating to you all!
