But today we took him to church for all three hours! I was in Primary for the first two hours and so he was with Aaron in Priesthood and Sunday School (or rather...in the hallways when Zach was grumping). After church, I told Aaron that I wanted to go outside for pictures to remember this day.

Baby's First Sunday
I brought Zach to sacrament meeting with me, a couple weeks after he was born so that I could be there when they released Aaron from being a Primary teacher.

Baby's First Wedding Reception
I'm a very social person...I don't know if you know that about me...but I am.
And summers are GREAT because they are full of weddings! Beautiful fun glorious weddings!
One of my friends (and daughter in one of my favorite families) got married in Washington, D.C. and then had a reception out here. I wasn't sure if we were going to be able to make it once I found out that I was going to have to have surgery but luckily I was feeling good enough to socialize out of the house by the 27th.
After dropping my mother off at the airport so she could FINALLY get home and stay awhile (hopefully), we headed to the reception.
The only pictures that I felt like taking were from my cell phone...the make some other members of this family jealous that they hadn't gotten to meet my little man.
Two seconds after this picture, little man spat up for the first time on a non-family member. I hope that Kevin felt honored.

One Month Old!!
My master plan (because I'm dumb enough to have master plans) was to take monthly pictures of my growing boy. I was going to have twelve at the end of the year and it would be wonderful....but yeah, I had surgery a couple days ago and I don't feel like having a photo shoot...or...walking around...
But I did feel like getting out the "jungle" gym that he got from some wonderful ladies from our church and letting him play.
So these are the only one month old photos that we have.
Back to the jungle gym....what does he think?

He LOVED it.
At first he was like, "Wow...what is this stuff?"
Then he was like, "Hmmmm...what is the best thing to do with this stuff?"
Then he was all, "I KNOW!!! Punch it!!"
He LOVES that monkey toy. He seriously spent about 45 minutes punching at it...or the less violent thing I like to say, "Helping the monkey swing".

Aaron's First Father's Day
How was Aaron's first Father's Day?
....probably kind of lame. At least, that is how I would describe it.
Father's Day was on the 16th and on the 17th, I was going to have my surgery. I was on all manner of pain killers so that I didn't have to suffer another attack.
I spent the night getting up with little man and so Aaron took him when he woke up in the morning. I woke up Father's Day morning and found this.

Precious. Then when Zach woke up hungry, I fed him and Aaron went and made us breakfast...and then brought it to me in bed.
Yeah...that's right. I got breakfast in bed on Father's Day. Aaron's pretty great like that.
I forgot to take my medication....or rather, I was asleep when I could have taken another dose. By the time I remembered, I was having a gall bladder attack and so we didn't end up going to church. Aaron had been released as a Primary teacher the week before and so he wasn't needed so we all stayed home. I mean, Aaron HAD to because I couldn't move while having my attack and Zach isn't super understanding of that.
But Aaron did end up getting a card and candy from me. Zach totally one upped me and got Aaron a Soda Can Robot kit. That little sneak. So it wasn't too bad for Aaron, I guess.
Then he got to drive to the airport to pick up his mother-in-law.
Happy Father's Day Aaron!! May they only continue to improve! But he proved one thing, he DESERVES to be celebrated as a dad. :)

Wide Eyed and Bushy Tailed
After feeding Zach, I thought he looked tired so I wrapped him up and put him in bed. 5 minutes later, I look over and see this next to me.
I guess he doesn't think that it is nap time.

Pillow Hogs :UPDATED
Some people have asked about how the digs are adjusting to having the new baby in the house.
The answer?
Pippen...indifferent.
He has more of a room mate relationship with us anyway. Seriously, he lives with us and will usually just do his own thing. Sometimes he will cuddle with me...like if I'm sleeping and he is cold...that's about it. So he isn't jealous of the baby or...care at all. He only cared about when I had surgery and he tried to cuddle on my incisions the next day and I punched him.
How does Bambi feel about the baby?
Protective.
I wasn't expecting that from her. I was expecting jealous but no. She is convinced that someone is going to come into the house and steal her new baby.
She freaked out when my mom took Zach to see Lou next store. She freaked out when we took him outside for pictures. When someone knocks on the door she barks WAY more than she use to, to warn us that someone is coming to steal her baby. It's a welcome surprise in Bambi...even if sometimes a little annoying.
But they both love all the baby stuff we "bought them".

Couch Snuggles
Everyone loves some snuggles!
Aaron has been a recent favorite for snuggle times....I know that he has always been my favorite.
I'm in this picture but you can only see my leg because I'm pumping in the corner.

God Keeps His Promises
I was sitting on the couch, holding my sweet angel when I looked up and saw this on the ceiling of our living room.
Something was sitting on the coffee table just right, to catch the light and cast this rainbow.
Rainbows have always been a symbol to Aaron and I, ever since we saw a double rainbow on our wedding day. It reminds us that sometimes, you have to have some rain in your life to have something beautiful also.
In the bible, it is a symbol that God will never flood the earth again and that He always keeps His promises.
The name Zachary comes from a bible name that means, "God always keeps His promises" and as I hold my baby close, I know that that is true.

Baby's First Family Walk
On the 29th, I was feeling good enough to venture outside of our house for a little bit. Aaron and I decided to take a family walk. We packed up Zach in his stroller and headed out.
How did Zach like it?
How did Zach like it?
Not at all.
Maybe next time.
Baby's First Bath
At the moment, Zach fits perfectly in our sink for his bath...I'm sure in a couple weeks, that will change and then we have an actual bath for him to us.
But until then, we gave him his first bath in the sink on the 28th of May! He loved having his hair washed. LOVED. He thought that having his head massaged was pretty much the best thing ever.

He wasn't super thrilled about the rest of the bath but he handled it like a champ...and he didn't even pee on me! Way to go Zach!
All done! And wrapped up in a little towel!
Ready for some baby lotion and his pjs!
Nothing smells better than a freshly bathed baby.

Zachary's Introductions
I don't think that Zachary knows how many people he is going to have to get to know since he was born into this family. There are A LOT of people who couldn't wait for him to get here.
Being the first grandchild, on both sides, meant that he was going to get to know people FAST.
First person:
Me...duh....
I was in labor for days...so I forgive my face for being bloated and gross.

Next person: Aaron...duh.
After that, it was a big mix of people.
Zach's Aunt Dee was in the delivery room but I don't know when she got to hold him for the first time. But she came with her parents to the hospital room to visit.
That's when 3 out of 4 of the grandparents got to hold Zach. They have pictures of that...I don't. I was busy with...just having given birth to a person.
My dad was the last grandparent to get to hold Zach since he was stuck at the airport for 12 hours trying to get to us. He and my brother Markus slept on cots in the airport...fun times.
Of course, Bambi and Pippen had to be introduced!
Bambi is pretty smitten with the little guy.
We were pretty excited that Zach's first couple days of life, he got to meet all of his grandparents. How nice of him to show up in time for Memorial Day weekend!
First non-family member that Zach got to meet? That honor goes to our wonderful neighbor, Lou Birch.
He was so tickled that he got to meet Zach and only 3 days old! My mom walked Zach over that first Sunday morning before church. Lou said, "If he was a little older, and I was a little younger, I would take this boy fishing!" I have no doubt that he would.
Zach better be ready for more people because he hasn't even cracked the surface of the amount of people who want to snuggle and love on him.
