Pneumonia = Dumb

I started feeling really sick on Saturday which I always blame on a combination of stress and the children at the preschool.  I usually get sick after being stressed about something and finally getting through it.  It's nice, in that when I'm most stressed, I don't get sick....but lame, in that once I have time to enjoy my life after the stressful event, I'm sick.

It wasn't so bad till I woke up Wednesday and I couldn't stop coughing.  Like, tears rolling down the face, can't stop to breath coughing.  So I called into work and told them that I couldn't make it.

Boo!  Since I only have about 6 days left with those kids.

Thursday morning I woke up, still not feeling great but I could drag myself into work.  I got in the shower and started coughing and chunks of bright green were coming up...not a good sign.

Normally with stuff like this, I don't like going to the hospital.  I like to wait and see if I can clear it up naturally (and cheaply) by myself.  I decided to call Aaron and see what he thought (he was out of town on business).  When I told him about the color, he told me that he thought I should definitely call my clinic and ask my midwife what she thought.

So I called her up and asked her.  She told me that that definitely wasn't a good thing because it meant my lungs were infected and I needed to clear it up fast because it could lead to early labor if it got bad enough.

Boo.  So I called into work again and told them that I couldn't make it.

Luckily for me, my brother was in town staying with us and so I didn't have to go to the doctor alone.  There is something really comforting about having a friend with you when you go to the doctor.

We went to the doctor and guess what?  Yeah...you already read the title...you know what's up.

I have pneumonia.  The doctor said that it was lucky that we caught it very early on because yeah, early labor is bad and she said that for the next month, I'm probably going to be coughing chunks out of my lungs and finding it hard to breath.  Excellent.

And then I missed Friday at work.....3 days I missed with those kids and now I only have 4 days with them. I'm not a super happy camper.  But yeah, I guess not having horrible pneumonia but only lame easy to manage pneumonia is better.
